Traditional Turmeric Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice, rinsed
  • 3.5 cups water
  • 1.5 teaspoons JJ Spices turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 green cardamom pods

Instructions

    Rinse rice until water runs clear and soak for 15 minutes.

    Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.

    Drain rice and add to pot, stirring to coat with spices.

    Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15-18 minutes.
